Gestalt Counselling is a holistic approach involving body, feelings and mind.
It recognises that each individual human being has the inner power to access potential that largely goes unrecognised and is unused. The counsellor’s role is to help the client identify or tap into these inner resources, and support the client’s choice making.
Sessions may include empathic listening, connecting deeply to yourself by learning to listen to your body and by paying attention to feelings, working on unresolved material and unhelpful belief systems. This approach to counselling uses dialogue as well as creative visualisation, free drawing, physical expression and guided imagery.
Counselling can help you come to terms with life’s challenges, difficulties and distressing or traumatic events.
Counsellors are trained to listen to your problems and difficulties in the safety and privacy of the sessions. By discussing your concerns with you, they will be able to help you gain a better understanding of your feelings and actions, as well as supporting you to explore new possibilities so you can find your own solutions to problems thus enabling you to make the choices in life that are right for you.
It can be a great relief to share your worries and fears with someone who will confirm your feelings and help you to reach a positive solution.
