[What can it treat?] [When is it available?] [Fees & Consultation]
Pilates is all about natural flowing movement. Practiced regularly Pilates will change the way you move. It involves gentle moves and stretches with the aim of strengthening and lengthening muscles so that the whole body feels toned. There is a strong focus on the postural muscles including abdominal muscles, which are essential for supporting the back. Joseph Pilates developed Pilates in the 1920’s as an exercise, which encourages core stability to the body, improves posture, strengthens muscles and relieves mental stress. Exercises are safe during pregnancy and we run specific ante-natal Pilates classes for pregnant women.

Ante Natal Pilates
Antenatal Pilates is considered to be one of the best forms of exercise for pregnant women. Pregnancy is a time of enormous musculoskeletal, physical and emotional change. Pilates helps the mother remain healthy and confident with her body, avoiding many of the aches and pains associated with pregnancy. It can also help with the baby’s positioning for birth and it prepares the mother for labour and delivery, as well as for the demands of looking after a baby!
With its gentle and low-impact nature, Pilates develops a stronger core and improves posture, to better cope with the weight of the baby growing and to alleviate back and pelvic pain. It also teaches good breathing and tones the pelvic floor muscles, which play a very important role throughout pregnancy, during labour and also after birth for a quick recovery.
