Wintertime brings coughs and colds.
Your immunity is at low ebb.
Bowen sessions may raise your body’s ability to cope and deal naturally with many of the germs that seem to be particularly prevalent in the winter months.
Bowen is a gentle, non-manipulative treatment, in which the practitioner makes rolling moves, over muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia, on certain parts of the body.
These moves stimulate the body’s natural healing process; helping it return to its original blueprint.
The technique is deceptively light, non-invasive and non-manipulative – often it feels like very little has happened – yet in fact it addresses the whole body; working on many levels including the physical, chemical, emotional, and psychological well-being of each client.
In addition you may find the following tips help keep to colds at bay:
- Keep the heating low; germs can’t survive in cooler temperatures – add another layer to keep warm
- Increase your intake of fruits and vegetables; a natural way to boost your immune system
- Ensure you are drinking approx. 2 litres of water a day, or more if you exercise, smoke or drink tea and coffee. Water keeps your body clean, helps you think clearer and increases energy
- Add a slice of lemon to your water for the most powerful boost of vitamin C; boiling water destroys the effect
Vitamin C and Zinc are the nutrients able to aid immunity – meat and seafood are the best sources of zinc; fruit and veg are full of vitamin C.
It has been found that taking Zinc lozenges within 24 hours of catching a cold can help reduce the duration and severity of your cold, as does vitamin C, however, studies show that vitamin C doesn’t prevent colds.
