Diets don’t work for a number of reasons:

Depriving yourself of food triggers your nervous system to take a defensive survival stance and in this state it fights to conserve your fat stores (so any weight loss is usually water or muscle), your metabolism slows and so all you feel is tired and lethargic.

Telling yourself repeatedly that you “cannot” have a certain food will, most definitely, mean that you are thinking about that particular food many times a day.

Diets do not deal with your own personal beliefs about yourself and your own reasons for why you eat, e.g. emotional eating, comfort eating, habitual eating, snacking etc.
